# Chatbots: The future of scaling business growth
" Business leaders saved an average of $300,000 in 2019 from their chatbots "
# What are Chatbots?
"A computer program designed to simulate conversation with human users, especially over the Internet." - Oxford Dictionaries
"A chatbot is an artificial intelligence (AI) software that can simulate a conversation (or a chat) with a user in natural language through messaging applications, websites, mobile apps or through the telephone." - Expert system
You can see Chatbots as a computer software capable of having a conversation like a human and performing tasks it has been trained to do.
# What can Chatbots do?
Chatbots have been used over the years for various things. With the improvement in technology over the years, Chatbots can now perform much more complex tasks like humans.
Some of the things Chatbots can do include but are not limited to:
- Provide support to customers.
- Handling sales.
- Marketing e.t.c
It is evident that Chatbots can help fill the needed gap in customer service, marketing, and sales simultaneously. Thus leading to higher sell-through rates according to the Intercom study.
It is however surprising to find that the level of adoption of Chatbots in Nigeria and Africa, in general, is low. Not because we don't need them but maybe because we are just used to doing things the usual way. Some days ago, I saw an advert on Instagram for Small chops, wow the image was so captivating and I desired to have some immediately. I clicked on the ad immediately only to find out that I needed to message the seller on the platform to place my order. This did not stop me, however. I dropped 3 messages consequently expecting a reply. 15 minutes later, I already went back to my work I got a reply. Not only was the reply late but the products can not be delivered to my location. I am sure I got late replies maybe because the manager of the account had other customers to attend to or he/she was not available. This would be different if a Chatbot was employed for this. Firstly, I will get an instant reply. Secondly, I would have been informed of the delivery location barrier earlier. This is just one scenario but there are many others like this and this is greatly affecting your business and/or the way your customers see your business. This is the sales aspect but Chatbots can be used to solve other problems businesses experiences like answering basic information about your business or the customer's needs or taking care of your ordering process for your products and/or services.
# Why not a mobile app?
You might wonder why not a mobile app. A mobile app is perfect but not ideal for some situations. You might scare your customers away with the large app size or the need to add an extra app to the long list just to perform simple operations. How does a chatbot solve this? At SoftNexus we build Chatbot for your business that can be easily integrated to your current platforms like a Website, Facebook, Skype, Slack and others like Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana e.t.c. This will ensure that your customers do not need to download additional apps but use apps they already have installed on their phone. That way there is a smooth flow for your customer, a faster way to get them to use your services with an increased satisfaction percentage.
